Media & Event Summary

The Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC), in collaboration with Baltimore City Office of Information Technology (BCIT) and Npower, is excited to celebrate the reopening of newly renovated computer labs at 5 HABC communities: Gilmore Homes, Brooklyn Homes, Douglass Homes, Scattered Sites, and Pleasant View Gardens.

These refreshed spaces are more than just computer labs they are places where residents can apply for jobs, complete school assignments, build new skills, connect to online resources, and explore new opportunities. The upgrades reflect HABC’s ongoing commitment to investing in our communities and making sure residents of all ages have access to safe, modern spaces for learning, growth, and connection.

All 5 of the computer labs will be open and ready for use on May 21.

The celebration will feature remarks from HABC leadership, elected officials, community partners, and residents, along with tours of the updated labs and activities designed to bring the community together and highlight the impact these spaces will have for families and young people across Baltimore.

Quote from Housing Authority of Baltimore City Resident, Shanika Passmore:

"Having the computer lab back open makes it much easier to search and apply for jobs, It helped me find a job, and I believe it will have a positive impact on the entire community. It helped me get a job, and it will be a great improvement for the community."
