(BALTIMORE– June 25, 2019) – Water service has been fully restored at Poe Homes. Full service had been out for more than a week following a water main break outside of the development.

While the Department of Public Works worked to restore service, HABC went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that residents were provided food and water. In addition, Community groups supplemented services in partnership with HABC.

“We are heartened by the overwhelming outpour of support from the residents of Baltimore City and our Community partners, in helping Poe residents during this ordeal,” said Janet Abrahams, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Baltimore City. “I want to especially thank our residents for their understanding as DPW continued to try to fix the problem. We responded to the emergency situation with a methodical overwhelming effort to ensure that our residents were as comfortable as possible given the circumstances,” she continued.

HABC will be assessing the cost of the emergency.
